John William Pollman, 78, 3497 E. Michigan Rd., died Saturday at his home.Mr. Pollman was born June 6, 1915, in Shelby County, to John H. and Catherine (Ruhlman) Pollman. He married Lillian Fischer on Oct. 24, 1945, at St. Vincent's Catholic Church. His wife survives.Mr. Pollman was a lathe operator for 23 years at the P.R. Mallory firm in Indianapolis. He also farmed in Shelby County for 18 years. He was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Sacred Heart Council 822 in Shelbyville, and a fourth-degree member of teh St. Louis and Mary Assembly of the Knights of Columbus.Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent's Catholic Church with Father James Dede officiating. Burial will be in the St. Vincent's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday.Surviving in addition to his wife are five sons, John F. Pollman, Paul V. Pollman, and William H. Pollman, all of Shelbyville Mark W. Pollman, San Antonio, Texas, and Joseph S. Pollman, Cincinnati; one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Mary Ann) Clifford, Lake Bluff, Ill; and four grandchildren. Two sisters and two daughters preceded him in death.Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent's Catholic Church. (Obit: Shelbyville News, June 21, 1993)
