    Overleden:
James R. Koors, age 78 of Batesville, died Monday, February 26, 2013 at his residence. Born January 19, 1935 in Decatur County Indiana, he is the son of Marguerite (Nee: Thrine) and Herman Koors. He married Glorian Firsich December 29, 1954 at St. Louis Church in Batesville and she preceded him in death July 30, 2012. He was a member of St. Louis Church, the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271, the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and the Knights of Columbus Council #1461 where he was a fourth degree knight.

Anyone who knew Jim knew what a prankster he was. He took great delight at teasing, picking on and pranking people and no one was above being one of his victims. Many will also remember him as a long time league bowler for the "Binders." Jim liked to golf but according to his family, "he was a better soldier than golfer." Other activities he enjoyed were going to the boat to try his luck at the casino, listening to the Reds on the radio Sunday's when he was grilling and apparently he was a bit of a card shark. Among his favorites were 7up, Solo, Pinochle and Euchre. His family also indicated dad had a bit of sweet tooth with an absolute passion for ice cream and pies. Jokester that he was, he was equally proud of his of his service to his country. During his life, Jim devoted many hours to both the VFW and the Legion volunteering to march during holidays and parades in addition to serving several decades as a member of the firing squad for the Legion honor guard.

He is survived by his daughter Tress Zielinski of Batesville; sons Andy Koors of Batesville, Tony Koors of Indianapolis; sister Rite Fields of Oldenburg; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. In addition to his wife and parents, he is also preceded in death by daughter Tammy Koors; sisters Mary Ann Schroeder, Liz John and brothers George and Bill Koors. Visitation is Thursday, February 28th, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday, March 1st, at St. Louis Church with Rev. Randy Summers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Prell-Bland American Legion and the Batesville V.F.W. The family requests memorials to the Prell-Bland American Legion or Hospice of Margaret Mary Hospital.
