451 Mary A. Braunagel, 89, of Indianapolis, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at Wildwood Health Care in Indianapolis.
Born March 16, 1913, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of John B. and Katherine (Minster) Fischer. She married Edward J. Braunagel on Sept. 15, 1936. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1987.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph Edward Braunagel of Indianapolis and Francis Braunagel of Fairland; six daughters, Ann Marie Gutierrez of Indianapolis, Mrs. Jerry (Helen) Lux of Shelbyville, Betty Kay O'Brien of Pique, Ohio, Rita Whalley of Indianapolis, Mrs. Harold (Alice) Smith of Westport and Mrs. Patrick (Dianne) Burgoyne of Denver, Colo; 29 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. George (Rosa Mary) DuCharm on April 11, four brothers, three sisters, and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Braunagel was a resident of Shelby County most of her life.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a member of the alter society, St. Joseph's Senior Social Club, Marion Township Home Demonstration Club and Flower Lovers Garden Club.
Funeral services were at 9:30 a.m. this morning at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St., with the Father Peter Gallagher officiating.
Burial was in St. Vincent Cemetery in Shelby County.
Carmony-Ewing Broadway Funeral Home, 232 W. Broadway St., handled the arrangements.

453 Mary C. Mammoser, 87, of Indianapolis, died Sunday, July 17, 2005. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph C. Mammoser; brother, Raymond Fischer; and sister, Berneice McClintock. She is survived by her sister, Lois F. Durbin; brother, John Fischer; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:30 p. m. Wednesday, July 20 at St. Paul Hermitage. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 20, 1 hour prior to services. 454 Mass of Christian Burial for Anne Marie Strafuss, 78, Lawrence, will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Chapman.
Mrs. Strafuss died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at her home after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born Oct. 22, 1929, in Algona, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Agnes Schoemann Scanlan. She grew up in Chapman and graduated from St. John's School of Nursing in Salina in 1950.
Mrs. Strafuss worked as a nurse at Stormont-Vail in Topeka and St. Mary's Hospital in Manhattan. She also volunteered for many years as a hospice nurse.
She married Dr. Albert C. Strafuss on Aug. 16, 1954, in Chapman. He died May 28, 2006.
She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Danny, Dick, Tom and Phil.
Survivors include four daughters, Paula Strafuss, Rice Lake, Wis., Kathleen Strafuss and Patricia Bauerband, both of Houston, and Mary Strafuss, Kansas City, Kan.; a son, Thomas Strafuss, Dallas; two sisters, Mary Irene Easum, Lawrence, and Elaine Winterscheidt, Leavenworth; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

455 MATTOON — Edith Katherine (Auffenorde) Lowry, age 97, of Mattoon, IL, passed away at 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at Mattoon Health Care, surrounded by her loving family. The funeral mass in her honor will begin at 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 15, 2010, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Mattoon, IL, with Reverend Dennis Kollross officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, also at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, located at 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL, 61938, is assisting the family with arrangements. Mrs. Lowry was born January 18, 1913, in Quincy, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Matilda W. (Behnen) Auffenorde. She spent her school years in Quincy, Charleston, and Trowbridge, IL, and married Gerald Lowry in Mattoon, IL, on May 15, 1948. He passed away in 1971. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Florence Henrietta Auffenorde, who passed away in 1998. In 1948, Edith began her employment with the General Electric Company where she worked for many years before retiring. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and a devout Catholic. She loved to cook and cherished time spent with her family, especially playing marbles and Yahtzee with her grandchildren. After retiring, she devoted many hours to volunteering. She was a Quilter and member of the VFW. Edith was an example to all with her kindness and loving ways. She had a big heart and a strong spirit. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials are made to the St. Mary's Catholic School. 456 Maurice Lee McClintock, 54, of Anderson, died Nov. 28, 2010, at Summit Convalescent Center in Summitville after a brief illness.
Survivors include his brother, Bob McClintock.
Cremation will take place with his cremated remains scattered at East Maplewood Cemetery.

457 Maxine J. Elzinga passed away peacefully on August 1, 2013 at the age of 88 at Boulder Park Nursing Home in Charlevoix.

She was born in Ellsworth, Michigan on November 1, 1924, the youngest of six children born to James and Jessie (Wassenaar) Elzinga. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Henry and wife Evelyn of Lansing, her sister Connie Raymer and husband Roy of Charlevoix, her brother Marvin and wife Isabel of Ellsworth, her brother Herb and wife Virginia of Lowell, and her brother Arthur and wife Lola of Belding. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

In the fall of 1943, after graduating from Ellsworth High School, Maxine enrolled in the government’s Cadet Nurse Corps in Traverse City. This program was created by an Act of Congress in the summer of 1943 to address the need for nurses for the War effort. The government provided the young women’s tuition, books and uniforms and gave them $20 a month for living expenses. This was the beginning of Maxine’s long career in the medical field as a nurse.

In April, 1945, Maxine enlisted in the WAVES and served in Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. where she satisfactorily completed a period of training and service on active duty with the United States Navy, World War II through June of 1946. That fall she enrolled in Butterworth Hospital School of Nursing in Grand Rapids, Michigan, graduating with her R.N. degree in 1949. After working in the Saginaw, Michigan Veterans Hospital as an operating room nurse, Maxine served as a nurse and First Lieutenant Officer in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1953. From 1954 until 1979, she was employed as a nurse at the Wadsworth Veterans Administration Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.

After retiring from her nursing career, she moved back to Michigan and Traverse City’s West Bay. She loved her retirement home’s view of the Bay where she enjoyed working in the garden, playing a good game of cards, and entertaining family and friends.

Maxine was a member of Central Untied Methodist Church in Traverse City, a volunteer at Munson Medical Center, and a member of the National Association of Federal Employees. She has been a resident for the past five years at Boulder Park Nursing Home in Charlevoix. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in Atwood Cemetery.

463 Memorial Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Joyce K. Joyce, 80, of St. Cloud will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2016 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Joyce passed away on Sunday, February 28th at the St. Cloud Hospital. Inurnment will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, St. Cloud.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 12 Noon on Friday at the church. St. John Cantius Rosary Sodality will pray the rosary at 4:30 p.m. and St. Augustine’s Parish Prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Joyce was born on May 10, 1935 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Thomas and Veronica (Reinert) Woodrume. After graduating from Cathedral High School, she married Allen Dombrovski and they later divorced. She married Francis Joyce on August 19, 1981 in St. Cloud. Joyce lived most of her life in St. Cloud where she was a member of St. Augustine’s Parish and St. John Cantius Rosary Sodality.
Joyce enjoyed spending time with family and friends, casino trips and dining out. Above all she treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Jeff (Kim) Dombrovski of St. Cloud; step-children, Mike (Pat), Mary, Pauline, Gary, Dave, Jim and Theresa; four grandchildren, Heather and Eric Dombrovski, Richard (Ariel) and Russell (Abby) Gardner; four great grandchildren, Callie, Mitchel, Paige and Parker Gardner; close friend, Marilyn Miller of St. Cloud; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; daughters, Sheryl Dombrovski and Becky Gardner; step-daughter, Barbara Joyce; and an infant brother.

468 Mildred Marie Loux Fischer died on Oct. 20, 2005. She was a long-time resident of Flagstaff and for the past 29 years lived in Camp Verde.

Born in Waverly, Kans., on Sept. 28, 1918, to Amos Emil Loux and Theresia Maria Servatius. Her parents owned several farms where they raised a family of 11 children. Mildred was the 10th child.

Mildred graduated from Ottawa High School in 1936. After graduation she worked at Woolworth's department store, and saved her pennies to purchase a cedar "Hope" chest. She met future husband Stephen Fischer through friends. They courted and were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa, Kans., Oct. 4, 1939. They farmed in the Ottawa area from 1939 to 1951. Mildred's primary job was caring for her family. When working outside of the house she was a baker. Her last baking job was for Saga Foods at Northern Arizona University from 1963 to 1976. However, she continued to make chocolate chip cookies for her grandchildren and pecan pies for family and friends.

Mildred and Steve were married 53 years and parented six children: Lawrence, Shirley, Johnnie, Harold, Karen and Pamela. Steve died in 1996. Her three sons preceded her in death. Also, a granddaughter, Tawnya Dawn Knight and two great-granddaughters, Kaycie Lyn and Laurel Kay DeWitt precede her in death. She is the last of the Loux children to pass from this world.

Mildred is survived by daughters Shirley Gorton and her husband, Clyde; Karen Fanning and her husband, Robert "Driz"; and Pamela Patterson and friend, Mike Hartman. All of the daughters live in Camp Verde. Mildred is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In 2000, Mildred moved in with the Fannings. She enjoyed the activity of a busy household, especially the holiday season. She became known as "Millie" in the Fort Lincoln neighborhood. She was a regular at the Eden Center, where she was the "Queen of BINGO" and enjoyed a good game of Skip-Bo with best friend Dixie.

Mildred was a loving, giving woman who took life as it happened without complaint. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services took place on Oct.22 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, in Camp Verde. Interment was later on the same day at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Flagstaff.

A Memorial Mass will be said for Mildred at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 1.

Donations in Mildred's memory may be made to the Cottonwood Terrace Adult Day Care Center, 195 S. Willard St., Cottonwood AZ 86326.

The funeral of the late Benjamin Fisher occurred at the Catholic Church this morning at 9 o'clock, and was attended by all the people in the vicinity of that gentleman's late residence. 471 Mrs. Agnus Soller, 66, wife of Albert Soller, 136 east Broadway, died at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Major hospital, where she was taken at noon following a fall in which she suffered a fractured hip.
Mrs. Soller had been ill for the past several months.
Born in Liberty township Sept. 14, 1876, she was the daughter of Henry and Mary Tebbe Fischer. He marriage to Albert Soller took place April 20, 1932. Mrs. Soller was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the St. Ann Alter Society.
Surviving are the husband; one sister, Mrs. John Zinser, Liberty township; and two brothers, John and Fred Fischer, also of Liberty township.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday at the St. Joseph Catholic church with the Rev. Clement Zepf, pastor officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery in charge of Lorent H. Murphy. Friends may call at the home after 7 p.m. today. (Obit: The Shelbyville News, Jan. 20, 1944)

472 Mrs. Alice S. Epright, 71, 3645 Fourth Ave. S, died Saturday (June 22, 1974). Mrs. Epright came here 29 years ago from Pennsylvania. She is survived by a son, John H., of Freeholt, N.J.; a daughter, Mrs. Alice S. Griffin, of St. Petersburg; two sisters, Mrs. Matilda Partley, of Long Island, N.Y., and Mrs. Susanne McBride, of England; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. 473 Mrs. Alma Wisker, 44, wife of Arthur Wisker, who resided five miles from Shelbyville, in Shelby township, died at 11:15 a.m. today at the W. S. Major Hospital. She had been a patient there since Tuesday undergoing treatment for heart trouble.
Mrs. Wisker was born in Shelby county, August 4, 1904, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Weintraut, of Liberty township, who are among the survivors. She became the wife of Arthur Wisker on Oct. 23, 1928.
Surviving with the parents and husband are two sons, Kenneth and Raymond; two daughters, Charlene and Barbara, all at home; four sisters, Mrs. Edward Belter, Greensburg,; Mrs. Virgil Tull, Shelby county; Mrs Max Beyer, Liberty township, and Mrs. Henry Fischer, Shelby county; two brothers, Ira Weintraut, Waldron, and Aldrich Weintraut, Decatur county, and several niceces and nephews.
Mrs. Wisker was a member of the St. Vincent Catholic Church and funeral services will be held at the church at 9:00 a.m. (CST), Monday with Rev. John Bankowski officiating. 474 Mrs. Anna Fischer, 82, of Westphalia died today at 4:10 a.m. of heart and abdominal condition at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joe Lauer. She had been ill about a week.
She was born March 11, 1871 in Shelbyville, Indiana and was married there in 1889 to John H. Fischer. She moved to Ottawa with family in 1919 and lived about seven miles west of Ottawa in the Richter community until the death of her husband in 1943. Since then she had made her home with her children. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors are three daughters: Mrs. Joe Lauer, Mrs. Ben Strafuss of Manhatten, and Mrs. Joe Renyer of Sabetha/ Two sons: Steven Fischer of Spearville, Arizona and Lewis Fischer, Rt. 4; 30 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Three children preceded her in death.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church, Wednesday at 9 a.m. with Matthew Guilfoyle officiating. Rosary services will be conducted from the McVey-Dengle Mortuary, Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. Interment will be in the St. John's cemetery, Homewood. (Obit: The Ottawa Herald, June 15, 1953)

475 Mrs. Anna Mae Zinser, 64, R. R. 1, Waldron, died at 12:15 a.m. today at Major Hospital where she had been a patient since Wednesday. She had been in failing health since August.
Born Aug. 14, 1912 in Franklin County near Oldenburg, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Brockman) Hirt, she was married May 1, 1937 to Frederick H. Zinser in Oldenburg. He survives.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Mary Jo) Rife, R. R. 1, Waldron, a brother, Edward Hirt, R. R. 2, Batesville; and a granddaughter.
Mrs. Zinser was a member of the St. Vincent Catholic Church and St. Ann's Alter Society.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent Catholic Church with the Rev. John Laugel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. 476 Mrs. Barbara Krug died at the residence of her son, E. J. Krug, 516 West Seventh street, yesterday morning. She was born in Germany, Nov. 27, 1836. She is survived by eight children, Mrs. J. K. Kuhn, of New Decatur, Ala.; Mrs. Carrie Harris, St. Louis, Mo.; Charles J. Krug, G. L. Krug, Miss Anna Krug, E. J. Krug, Paul M. Krug and Mrs. C. J. Saffer, of this city; also two brothers, Joseph Zettmaler, of Cincinnati, O., and Adam Zettmaler, of Prescott, Ind. Funeral at SS. Peter and Paul's Catholic church Monday at 9 a. m. 477 Mrs. Bernice E. Fischer, 58, R. R. 1, Waldron, died today at 5:30 a.m. at her home. She had been seriously ill three months and in falling health one year.
Mrs. Fischer was a former employee of the KCL Corporation here. She was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church and of St. Anne's Altar Society, St. Joseph Church.
Born in Shelby County on June 27, 1919, Mrs. Fischer was the daughter of Frank and Crescentia (Fischer) Weintraut. On May 3, 1947, she was married to Henry Fischer, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Mrs. Dennis (Alice) Brandt, Shelbyville, Mrs. Ron (Doris) Everson, R. R. 6, Warsaw, and William Fischer, Waldron, two grandchildren, and a brother and three sisters, Ira Weintraut, Waldron, Mrs. Ed (Cecelia) Belter, Greensburg, Mrs. Florence Tull, Fairland, and Mrs. Regina Beyer, Shelbyville. Seven brothers and sisters preceded in death.

478 Mrs. Cecelia J. Ferkinhoff, 89, formerly of 620 Fifth Ave. SE, died Thursday at St. Cloud Manor.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine's Catholic Church. The Rev. Blane Wasnie will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Williams Funeral Home. Christian Women will pray at 7 tonight at the funeral home following by parish prayers at 7;30.
Cecelia Ferkinhoff was born May 4, 1900, in Rock Valley, Iowa, to John and Cornelia (Verlaan) Tille. She married William T. Ferkinhoff Feb. 1, 1921, in St. Augustine's Parish. She was a member of the parish and Christian Women.
Survivors include sons, Theodore, Sauk Rapids; Leo, St. Cloud; Paul, Burbank, Calif; 21 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on Nov. 25, 1968; daughters, Marion in 1941, Bernadette in 1971 and Dorothy in 1989; four brothers; three sisters; and one granddaughter.

479 Mrs. Edward Ferkinhoff, 70, 1249 7th Ave.N., died at the St. Cloud Nursing Home Friday. She was born in Paynesville, Minn, June 12, 1898, to Anton and Mary Knese, and has lived in St. Cloud all her life.
Mrs. Ferkinhoff is survived by her husband; three children. Mrs. Robert (Valeria) Gross and James, St. Cloud; and Cletus, Brooklyn Center, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; and two brothers, Ben Knese, Eden Valley, Minn.; and Joseph Knese, Sacramento, Calif.
She was a member of St. Paul's Alter Society and Legion of Mary.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Monday from St. Paul's Church with burial in Assumption Cemetery.

480 Mrs. Elizabeth Fisher, aged 80 years, well known resident, of near Prescott, died at the home of her son Frank Fisher, at seven o'clock Sunday morning. Death was caused from a complication of diseases, from which she had been suffering fro some time.
Mrs. Fisher came to this county in1871 and since that time had made her home in the community where she died. She was a member of the St. Vincent Catholic Church and up until her health failed was one of the leading workers in this church. She was a beloved mother and leaves a host of friends to mourn her death.
Surviving beside the son at whose home she died, she leaves three daughters and three sons; Mrs. Anna Neice, of Plainfield; Mrs. Mary Weintraut, of Indianapolis; Mrs. Frank Weintraut, of this county; Herman Fisher, of Kansa; Joseph Fisher, of this county; and John Fisher of Johnson county.

481 Mrs. Elizabeth Mayrose Runnebaum, wife of Anthony Runnebaum, died on Friday at their residence in Prescott, in the seventy-first year of her age. She was stricken with paralysis about six weeks ago, from which she never recovered, and last Wednesday a second stroke came, resulting in her death this morning at nine o'clock. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Mayrose. She was married to Mr. Anthony Runnebaum about forty-eight years ago. To them were born ten children, nine of whom survive her, they are, Mrs. Mary Peters, Brookville; Mrs. Elizabeth Engsel, Cincinnati, O.; Mrs. Carrie Ost, Oklahoma; Mrs. Rose Grove, Cincinnati, O., Mrs. Anna Fisher, Prescott, and Miss Dena Runnebaum, Barry Runnebaum, deceased, John Runnebaum, of Cincinnati, Andy and Frank Runnebaum, of Prescott. Mrs. Runnebaum and wife moved here from St. Marys, Franklin county, about thirty-five years ago and located on a farm near Prescott, where they reared their family. Recently they moved to Prescott and were living there at the time of her death. Mrs. Runnebaum was a member of the Catholic church and was a good woman and respected by all who knew her. She died with her children and husban at her bedside. The funeral took place at the St. Vincent church Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock. Father Bauer preached the funeral. 482 Mrs. Fischer Dies In Hospital

Mrs. Katherine Fischer, 79, whose home was in Hendricks township, one miles east of the Second Mt. Pleasant Church, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Johnson County Memorial Hospital, where she was takes Tuesday afternoon. She had been in poor health for three years and seriously ill since Sunday.
Mrs. Fischer was born in Shelby county, June 22, 1880, a daughter of Anthony and Mary H. Minster. She was married October 30, 1900, to John B. Fischer, who died January 12, 1953. The couple had resided in Shelby county with the exception of 11 years spent in Johnson county. Mrs. Fischer was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the St. Ann's Alter Society of the church.
Surviving are four children, Mrs. Eileen Merrick and Earl Fischer, at home; Mrs. William Woods, Franklin, R. R. 1 and Mrs. Ed Braunagle o R. R. 6, Shelbyville; 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a niece and two nephews. Three sons died in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Lorena Thoman, died in 1931.
Funeral services in charge of the Murphy Mortuary will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph Church, with Rev. Bernard Burgert officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery. 483 Mrs. Frank (Elsie P.) Fischer, 52, of 14 Kessing Dr., Greensburg, died to day at 1:30 a.m. at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis. Mrs. Fischer had been in failing health for several months and seriously ill for three weeks.
Born in Shelby County on Dec. 31, 1913, Mrs. Fischer was the daughter of William and Lillian (Robinson) Davis. On July 3, 1936, she was married to Frank V. Fischer, who survives with her mother with her mother, Mrs. Lillian Vogel of Rays Crossing.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. J. P. (Joan) Morgan of Greensburg, Mrs. Gordon D. (Joyce) Pope of Fairland and Carol Ann Fischer, at home; six grandchildren; and three brothers and a sister, Harold Davis, Shelbyville, Charles Davis, R.R. 1, Shelbyville, Gerald Davis, Fountaintown, and Mrs. Charles Franklin of Covington, Ky.
Mrs. Fischer was employed as a bookkeeper at Bob and Mac's Wholesale Co. in Greensburg. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a member and past regent of the Daughters of Isabella Circle in Greensburg and was vice president of the Greensburg Chapter of Psi Iota Xi sorority.
Services will be held at St. Mary's Church Saturday at 9:30 a.m., with the Rev. Joseph Laugel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. 484 Mrs. Frieda Ann Woods, 64 years old wife of William Woods, owner of Woods Buick-Pontiac in Franklin, passed away Tuesday morning at Johnson County Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Woods resided on Franklin route one.
Services will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday from St. Rose of Lima Catholic church, where Mrs. Woods was a member. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery in Franklin and calling hours will begin at Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Wednesday
Rev. Albert Ajamie will officiate at the services and a rosary service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Woods was born Oct. 16, 1907, in Shelby county to John and Kathryn Minster Fischer. She attended Shelby and Johnson county schools and graduated from the former Clark high school in 1925.
Mrs. Woods was a member of the Alter Society at St. Rose, as well as Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority and Zeta Psi patroness club.
Besides the husband, also surviving are two sons, John Woods of Bossier City, La., and Jim Woods of Franklin. In addition, two sisters, Mary Ann Braunagel of Shelbyville, Eileen Mann of Whiteland, and seven grandchildren survive. (Obit: The Daily Journal, March 14, 1972)

485 Mrs. H. Van Eizenga succumbs after stroke Saturday

Last rites were held at the American Reformed church Tuesday morning for Mrs. Hessel Van Eizenga, 65, an Orange City resident for over 30 years.

Mrs. Van Eizenga died Saturday evening, January 3, at Grossmann hospital, after suffering a stroke at the American church earlier that day, where she was helping prepare lunch for a bereaved family. She had not been in the best of health for some time, but had not been bedridden or noticeably ill.

Rev. Alvin Hook conducted the final services, for which Eugene Mulder presented vocal music. Pallbearers were Peter Goslinga, Henry Kleinhesselink, Wilbur Prins, Frank Pas, Gerrit N, Roghair and C. Vande Steeg. Interment was made at the Orange City cemetery with Van Etten's handling the arrangements.

Mrs. Van Eizenga was born Ida May, daughter of Wm. C. and Clara May, at Pawnee, Nebr., June 17, 1893. Most of her youth was spent at Lebanon, Kans., to which community the family moved when she was a young girl. She came to Orange City in January 1926, following her brother, John, who was in the restaurant business here; and was employed in the offices of the Sioux Abstract company.

Her marriage to Hessel Van Eizenga occurred October 3, 1931, at Brookings, S.Dak. The couple, who celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary this past fall, had one son, Jacob, who, along with Mr. Van Eizenga, survives.

Other near relatives surviving are a brother, Floyd May, of Chicago, who was here for services Tuesday; a sister-in-law, Mrs. John May of Bellflower, Calif.; a nephew, Bill May of Spirit Lake, also here for the funeral.

A regular attendant at the American Reformed church in Orange City, Mrs. Van Eizenga also was an active member of Eastern Star.

486 Mrs. Henry Bloemendaal, 84, Orange City, died Aug. 14 in the Orange City Hospital after a long illness. Services were held at 10 a.m., August 17 in Calvary Christian Reformed Church at Orange City. THe Rev. Edward Blankespoor officiated. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery at Orange City under the direction of the Van Etten Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bloemendaal, the former Grace Van Surksum, was born Oct. 31, 1889 in South Dakota. She was married March 7, 1909 at Orange City. The couple farmed in Sioux and O'Brien counties until moving to Orange City in 1944. Mr. Bloemendaal died in 1972.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. William (Johanna) Van Klompenburg of Orange City, Mrs. Wilson (Evelyn) Beyer of Bellingham, Wash., and Mrs. Walter (Helen) Fowler of Denver; five sons, Gerald of Orange City, John of Granville, Howard of Long Beach, Calif., Clifford of Pomona, Calif., and Stanley of Melbourne, Fla.; 29 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Sam Klein of Boyden, Mrs. John Bothof of Chandler, Minn., and Mrs. Jake Kort of Edgerton, Minn.; three brothers, Henry of Leota, Minn., Cornie of Alton, and Edward of Hospers.

487 Mrs. John (Alice May) Zinser, 51, of Noble Township, died at 9:45 p. m. Tuesday in Major Hospital. She had been in falling health for 18 months and critically ill for a week.
Mrs. Zinser was born in Waldron on Nov. 18, 1912, the daughter of David and Minnie (Morris) Worland. She had spent most of her life in Shelby County. On May 1, 1948, she was married to John Francis Zinser, who survives, with a son, Paul F. Zinser, at home.
Also surviving are a brother, Lowell Worland of Hollywood, Fla., a niece and a nephew. Two sisters and two brothers preceded in death.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a. m. Friday at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church where Mrs. Zinser was a member. Rev. Anthony Seger will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. 488 Mrs. Josephine Elizabeth Zinser, 82, native of Liberty township and resident of Waldron R. R. 1, died at Major Hospital Saturday afternoon at 2:45. She had been ill for three years and her condition was critical for three weeks.
The daughter of Henry and Mary (Tebbe) Fischer, she was born September 23, 1874. On January 12, 1904, she was married to John Zinser who preceded in death. Her survivors are two sons, Frederick H. Zinser, Waldron R. R. 1, and John F. Zinser of Waldron; two brothers, John Fischer, Waldron R. R. 1, and Fred Fischer of Waldron, and two grandchildren, Paul Francis and Mary Jo Zinser.
Mrs. Zinser was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church and St. Anne's Alter Society. Her funeral will be held at the church Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. with Rev. A. H. Seger officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Murphy Mortuary after 6:00 this evening. 489 Mrs. Margaret Bloemendaal, age 73, of Hospers, died Thursday, August 16 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Margaret was born March 12, 1917 at Orange City, the daughter of Dick Freriks and Tracy Vellinga Freriks. She was raised at Akron.

On November 9, 1935 she married John Everet Bloemendaal near Hospers. In 1975 they retired into Hospers.

Mrs. Bloemendaal was a member of the First Reformed Church of Hospers where she was a Sunday School teacher and was involved in Reformed Church Women.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Reverend Gordon Bloemendaal of Luverne, Minnesota; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Miedema and Pixie Bloemendaal, both of Hospers; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and seven brothers and sisters: Don Freriks of Orange City, Mrs. Mae Mouw of Redlands, California, William Freriks of Orange City, Mrs. Helen Stover of Le Mars, Vernon Freriks of Fresno, California, Robert Freriks of Omaha, Nebraska, and Mrs. Norma Jean De Jager of Le Mars.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandchild.

Memorial services were held Monday, August 20 at the First Reformed Church of Hospers with the Reverend Michael Pitsenberger officiating. Interment was prior to the service at the Hospers Cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.

Mrs. Krug was a member of Shelbyville, Ind., coming to this city thirty-four years ago. Mrs. Krug was a devout member of SS Peter and Paul's Catholic church. Survivors, beside her husband, are two sons, Dr. Bernard Krug, of this city and John, of Miami, Fla.; mother Mrs. Mary Fischer; two brothers, John and Fred Fischer; two sisters, Miss Agnes Fischer and Mrs. John Zinizer, all of Shelbyville, Ind. She was born Nov. 6, 1887 in Liberty, Ind., and had been a Lake County resident for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edgar L. in 1967.
Funeral will be Wednesday at the Stegall-Bertheide and Orr Funeral Home, Richmond, Ind. Time is still to be determined.
Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery, Richmond, Ind.

493 Mrs. Nellie M. Hey, 77, R.R.5, Shelbyville, died today at 3:00 a.m. at her home. She had been in failing health one year.
A resident of Shelby County most of her adult life, Mrs. Hey was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ; the Women's Guild of the church; and the Shara-Lyke Club.
Mrs. Hey was born Dec. 17, 1899, in Decatur County, the daughter of Charles and Lyda (Thackery) Platt. She was married to Elmer E. Hey on Sept 12, 1926, and he survives.
Other survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Jack (Betty) Yanzer, R.R.5, Shelbyville, Mrs. Ancil (Mildred) Tungate, Shelbyville, and Mrs. Thomas (Shirley) Fischer, R.R.6, Shelbyville; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Six brothers and sisters preceded in death.

494 Mrs. Pearl A. Fischer, 69, R. R. 1, Waldron, widely known resident of Liberty Township, died Thursday at 3:25 p.m. in Robert Long Hospital in Indianapolis, where she had been a patient since July 1. She had been in falling health since suffering a fractured hip in May.
Mrs. Fischer was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church, St. Ann's Altar Society and the 49'ers Extension Homemakers Club.
Born July 15, 1899, in Shelby Township, the daughter of Conrad and Mary (Thibo) Braunagel, she was married to John H. Fischer Sr. on Feb 14, 1917 and he survives.
Other survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Mary C. Mammoser, Chicago, Mrs. Berneice E. McClintock, Anderson, and Mrs. Lois F. Durbin, Rushville; two sons, John H. Fischer Jr. Shelby Township and Raymond E. Fischer, R. R. 1, Waldron; two brothers, Ed Braunagel, Shelbyville, R. R. and Charles Braunagel, R. R. 6, Shelbyville, and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Brown, Indianapolis, and Mrs. Frances Headlee, Shelbyville. Seven grandchildren also survive. One daughter, Mildred Jane, died in infancy.

495 Mrs. Regina E. Beyer, 80, former Liberty Township resident, died at 7 a.m. Tuesday at the Heritage Manor, where she had been a patient several years. She had been in ill health for many years.
Mrs. Beyer was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church.
Born May 23, 1898, in Shelby County, a daughter of Frank and Chrisanthy (Fischer) Weintraut, she was married Feb. 23, 1916, to Max Beyer, who died April 1, 1970.
Surviving are a son, Lawrence Beyer R.R. 1, St. Paul; two daughters, Mrs. Norman (Anna) Hatton, R.R. 1, Waldron, and Miss Leona Beyer, Salem; a brother, Ira Weintraut, Waldron; two sisters, Mrs. Celia Belter, Greensburg and Mrs. Florence Tull, Fairland; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Carl E. (Lora A. ) Roell, 74, died at her home on the Blue Ridge Road three miles east of Shelbyville at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Mrs. Roell had not been ill and death, attributed to complications, was unexpected.

Mrs. Roell was born June 2, 1887, in Liberty Township, a daughter of Frank and Flora (Worland) Zobel. She was married to Carl E. Roell, a former Shelby County state representative, on Jun 1, 1909, and he survives with four children. Mrs. Charles N. (Dorothy) FIscher and Frank B. Roell, bothof R. R. 6, Shelbyville and Mrs. Mildrend Webster of Shelbyville and Mrs. Ray (Helen) Vogt of Hamilton, Ohio. Two children preceded in death.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Frances Roell of R.R. 6 Shelbyville and Mrs. Ethel Thibo of Waldron, 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Roell was a member of the St. Vincent Catholic Church and an active member of St. Annes' Altar Society.

Mrs. Weintraut belonged to the St. Vincent Catholic Church and St. Ann's Alter Society.
Born July 3, 1891 in Oldenburg, a daughter of John and Bernadine (Fischer) Ferkinhoff, she was married Aug. 16, 1916 to Albert Weintraut, who survives at Waldron.
Also surviving are four daughter, Mrs. Beatrice Maier, Cincinnati, Mrs. Cleopha Brandes, Fortville, Mrs. Olive Froehling, Greenburg, and Mrs. Dorine Woisiefer, Shelbyville, and three sons, George Weintraut, Vesta, Calf., Omer Weintraut, Waldron, and Mark Weintraut, Indianapolis.
Other survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Ivo (Eulalia) Kischner and Mrs Genevieve Lamping, both of Oldenburg, and Mrs. Felecia Firsich, Batesville; two brother, Joseph and Ralph Ferkinhoff, both of Oldenburg, 25 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. A daughter, two brother and two sisters preceded in death.
