930 Valeria "Val" Cecilia Gross, age 90, St. Cloud, MN, died Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Quiet Oaks Hospice House, St. Augusta, MN.

Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN.

Val was born to Edward and Cecilia (Knese) Ferkinhoff in St. Cloud on December 25, 1924. She graduated from Cathedral High School in St. Cloud in 1943 and received her nursing degree (RN) in 1946 from St. Gabriel's Schoolof Nursing in Little Falls. Val married Robert Gross on September 3, 1946 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in St. Cloud. She worked as a nurse at the St. Cloud Hospital, the VA Hospital and completed her career as the industrial nurse for the Burlington Northern Waite Park Car Shop, retiring in 1981.She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, VFW Women's Auxiliary, Waite Park American Legion, St. Margaret¹s Society of Christian Mothers of St. Mary's Cathedral, and volunteer for various parish activities.

Val is survived by her husband, Bob, and her children, Judith (Bruce) Moberg of St. Cloud, MN, Patricia (Dave) Senogles of New Brighton, MN, Sharon (Todd) Sommers of Allen, TX, David (Margie) Gross of Sauk Rapids, MN, and Brian (Sheela) Gross of St. Cloud, MN; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, brother Jim (Marion) Ferkinhoff of St. Cloud, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Cletus Ferkinhoff.

Velma Leona CORDES, 84, formerly of 411 W. South St., Argos, passed away at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday at the Hickory Creek at Rochester nursing home where she was a resident. Her health had been failing for the past three years.
She was born in Marshall County near Argos as the daughter of Peter and Nellie Large Abair. She lived her entire life in the Argos community until moving to Rochester in 2001. She married Arthur Cordes on Jan. 8, 1955, in Richland Center near Rochester. He preceded her in death June 12, 1991.
Mrs. Cordes was a homemaker and had been employed as a nurse's aide for 15 years in nursing homes in the Argos and Plymouth communities. She was a former member of the Gilead Church, Argos. In her younger years, she enjoyed embroidery for which she was well known by family and friends. Other enjoyed pastimes included: attending local Marshall County auctions, touring the Indiana countryside with her late husband and the lost art of just visiting with friends and neighbors. In her later years, she was fond of working crossword puzzle books; however, she valued time with her grandchildren and family most of all.
She is survived by two daughters, Cherikee Miller and husband Larry, Warsaw, and Brenda McKee and husband Ron, Rochester; three grandchildren, Tracey Rickman and husband George, Warsaw, Ryan Miller, Warsaw, and Jeremy McKee, Rochester; five great-grandchildren, Georgie Rickman, Alex Rickman, Katlyn Miller, Maverick Miller and Arianna McKee. Her parents, husband, and a brother, Harold Abair, preceded her in death.
Her funeral service is 1 p.m. Friday at Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos, with Pastor Richard Dean officiating. Interment is at the Rochester Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Thursday or one hour prior to her service Friday. Her family has requested any memorials be made to either the John McKee Memorial Scholarship Fund or the Hickory Creek at Rochester Landscaping Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

938 Vincent N. Lauer, 44, of Lee's Summit, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at Lee's Summit Hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at Langsford Funeral Home. Cremation.

Vincent was born Aug. 29, 1960, in Kansas City, Mo. He was a Lee's Summit police officer for 13 years and a U.S. Air Force veteran. Vincent was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph H. Lauer, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Mary Earl of the home; three daughters, Jackie Langston and Megan Billingsley, both of Holden, and Kelsey Earl of the home; mother, Elizabeth Lauer, Lee's Summit; sister, Annette McWilliams, Lee's Summit; four brothers, Joseph Lauer, Overland Park, Kan., George Lauer, Phillip Lauer, and Paul Lauer, all of Lee's Summit; three grandchildren, Micah, Brook and Tyler; and many nieces and nephews. 939 Virginia Lucille (Fogarty) Fischer, 88, of St. Petersburg, Florida, formerly of Shelbyville, peacefully went home to the Lord on March 8, 2015.

She was born April 23, 1926, in Shelby County, to Thomas and Matilda (Vories) Fogarty. On May 15, 1949, she married John H. Fischer Jr. at the rectory of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Shelby County. He passed away Sept. 21, 2006.

Left behind to cherish many wonderful memories are her daughter and son-in-law, Madelyn and Sam Kehrer; daughter, Charlotte Allen; grandchildren: John G. Allen and wife, Mindy; Lauren Allen Manning and husband, Greg; Christa Allen Guilfoyle and husband, Greg; and Ryan Off; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, JoAnn Fischer; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.

Mrs. Fischer attended Waldron High School and Indiana University.

After graduation from college she began her career as a teacher and she taught at many Shelby County schools.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2015, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 4218 E. Michigan Road in Shelby County.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church.

Burial will be at St. Vincent Cemetery in Shelby County.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Suncoast Hospice, Coral Team, or to the donor's favorite charity, in care of Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

940 Virginia Mae Adler, 68, Fairland, died Tuesday at Riley Health Care Center, Indianapolis.
Born in Shelby County on Aug. 28, 1928, she was the daughter of Virgil and Florence (Weintraut) Tull. She lived in Shelby County most of her life.
Survivors include a brother, John Tull, Sebring, Fla.; and two sisters, Mary Frances Cook, McCordsville, and Clare Ann Fitzgerald, Hot Spring Village, Ark.
She was preceded in death by a sister.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a. m. to 11 a. m. Friday at Fairland Cemetery.
Graveside services will be at 11 a. m. Friday at the cemetery, with the Rev. James Horner officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Arthritis Foundation.
