    Mrs. Fischer Dies In Hospital

    Mrs. Katherine Fischer, 79, whose home was in Hendricks township, one miles east of the Second Mt. Pleasant Church, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Johnson County Memorial Hospital, where she was takes Tuesday afternoon. She had been in poor health for three years and seriously ill since Sunday.
    Mrs. Fischer was born in Shelby county, June 22, 1880, a daughter of Anthony and Mary H. Minster. She was married October 30, 1900, to John B. Fischer, who died January 12, 1953. The couple had resided in Shelby county with the exception of 11 years spent in Johnson county. Mrs. Fischer was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the St. Ann's Alter Society of the church.
    Surviving are four children, Mrs. Eileen Merrick and Earl Fischer, at home; Mrs. William Woods, Franklin, R. R. 1 and Mrs. Ed Braunagle o R. R. 6, Shelbyville; 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a niece and two nephews. Three sons died in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Lorena Thoman, died in 1931.
    Funeral services in charge of the Murphy Mortuary will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph Church, with Rev. Bernard Burgert officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. Thursday. The Rosary will be said Thursday at &;30 p.m. (Obit: Shelbyville News, Oct. 14, 1959)

    Mrs. Lorena Marie Thoman, wife of Henry Thoman, and son of the county's most widely known young women, died at four o'clock this morning at her home, one mile east of the St. Vincent church, in Liberty township, following a short illness from a complication of diseases. The announcement of her death this morning was the cause of deep and sincere mourning throughout the community.

    Funeral services are to be conducted at nine o'clock Thursday morning from the St. Vincent church with the Rev. Pieree Dixon, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph cemetery here with Charles M. Ewing, funeral director, in charge.

    Mrs. Thoman was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Fischer, of Sugar Creek township and was born in Shelby county, Dec. 7, 1902, being at the time of death, twenty-eight years, one month and twenty-six days old. On June 20, 1928, she was united in marriage to Henry Thoman and they were the parents of one son, Norbert Stephen, who, with the husband survives.

    She also leaves her parents, three sisters, Freda, Mary and Eileen, and a brothers, Earl Fischer, all of Sugar Creek township.

    Mrs. Thoman was a devoted member of the St. Vincent Catholic Church and had also been active in subordinate organizations of the congregation.

    Earl Fisher Found Dead

    Earl A. Fisher, 65, R. R. 1, Needham, was found dead at his home in Camp Joy around 4:30 p.m. Sunday by Deputy Sheriff Thomas Theobald and a neighbor, John Eickleberry.
    Eickleberry called sheriff officers when he learned that Mr. Fisher had severely lacerated himself across the hand twice, apparently with a razor blade, earlier in the afternoon. The victim's sister, Mrs. William C. Woods, told officers she had been at the home about an hour earlier and that she had bandaged his hand where he had cut himself.
    County Coroner Dr. Paul Inlow said Mr. Fisher apparently died due to severe bleeding and that death was self-inflicted. Mr. Fisher had been ill since sustaining a fractured hip Aug. 14 in a fall at the Greenwood Locker Plant, where he was employed.
    Born in Shelby County July 7, 1905, he was the son of John B. and Katherine (Minster) Fisher. Surviving are three sister, Mrs. Ed (Mary) Braunagel of near Rays Crossing, Mrs. William C. (Frieda) Woods, Franklin, and Mrs. Charles W. (Eileen) Mann, Whiteland. A sister and three brothers preceded in death.
    Services will be Wednesday at 2:00 p. m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Bernard Burgert officiating. The local Eagles Lodge, of which Mr. Fisher was a member, will conduct graveside rites at St. Joseph Cemetery.

    Mrs. Frieda Ann Woods, 64 years old wife of William Woods, owner of Woods Buick-Pontiac in Franklin, passed away Tuesday morning at Johnson County Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Woods resided on Franklin route one.
    Services will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday from St. Rose of Lima Catholic church, where Mrs. Woods was a member. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery in Franklin and calling hours will begin at Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Wednesday
    Rev. Albert Ajamie will officiate at the services and a rosary service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
    Mrs. Woods was born Oct. 16, 1907, in Shelby county to John and Kathryn Minster Fischer. She attended Shelby and Johnson county schools and graduated from the former Clark high school in 1925.
    Mrs. Woods was a member of the Alter Society at St. Rose, as well as Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority and Zeta Psi patroness club.
    Besides the husband, also surviving are two sons, John Woods of Bossier City, La., and Jim Woods of Franklin. In addition, two sisters, Mary Ann Braunagel of Shelbyville, Eileen Mann of Whiteland, and seven grandchildren survive. (Obit: The Daily Journal, March 14, 1972)

    Carl Joseph Fisher, son of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Fisher, died at their home in Shelby township at five-thirty o'clock this morning, of pneumonia, aged eight months and five days. The child had been suffering for four weeks.. The family will have the sympathy of the entire community in the loss of the babe. It leaves two sisters, Lorena and Freda, and a brother, Earl. One brother, Bernard, preceded it to the heavenly home in 1910, and its grandfather, Joseph Anthony Minster, passed away the thirteenth of this month. It is survived by two grandmothers, Mrs. Mary Minster and Mrs. Elizabeth Fisher.
    The funeral services will be held at the St. Joseph Catholic church at ten o'clock Wednesday morning, the Rev. Fr. A. Kaelin officiating, and the interment will be made in the St. Joseph cemetery in charge of M. G. Tindall. (Obit: The Shelby Democrat, Jan. 25, 1912 pg. 1)

    Mary A. Braunagel, 89, of Indianapolis, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at Wildwood Health Care in Indianapolis.
    Born March 16, 1913, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of John B. and Katherine (Minster) Fischer. She married Edward J. Braunagel on Sept. 15, 1936. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1987.
    Survivors include two sons, Joseph Edward Braunagel of Indianapolis and Francis Braunagel of Fairland; six daughters, Ann Marie Gutierrez of Indianapolis, Mrs. Jerry (Helen) Lux of Shelbyville, Betty Kay O'Brien of Pique, Ohio, Rita Whalley of Indianapolis, Mrs. Harold (Alice) Smith of Westport and Mrs. Patrick (Dianne) Burgoyne of Denver, Colo; 29 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
    She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. George (Rosa Mary) DuCharm on April 11, four brothers, three sisters, and two grandchildren.
    Mrs. Braunagel was a resident of Shelby County most of her life.
    She was a homemaker.
    She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a member of the alter society, St. Joseph's Senior Social Club, Marion Township Home Demonstration Club and Flower Lovers Garden Club.
    Funeral services were at 9:30 a.m. this morning at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St., with the Father Peter Gallagher officiating.
    Burial was in St. Vincent Cemetery in Shelby County.
    Carmony-Ewing Broadway Funeral Home, 232 W. Broadway St., handled the arrangements.

    John Ralph, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Fischer, died at 8:55 o'clock Monday night at their home in Shelby township. The child was eleven months and twenty-seven days old, having been born August 11, 1915. He was always frail, but the fatal illness was of only ten days duration. Death was caused by stomach and bowel trouble. Surviving beside the parents are a brother and three sisters, Earl, Lorrena, Freda and Mary. The babe leaves, also, its grandmothers, Mrs. Mary Minster, of this city, and Mrs. Elizabeth Fischer, of Prescott. This is the third time that Mr. and Mrs. Fischer have been called upon to give up a little one, and in their hour of sorrow they will have the sincere sympathy of the entire community. The funeral will take place at the St. Joseph Catholic church tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock, Rev. Fr. Kanlin officiating, and the interment will be made in the St. Joseph cemetery, Marshall G.     helby County native Eileen Elizabeth Fischer Mann, 75, Whiteland, died today at the Americana Nursing Home, Indianapolis.
    Born Aug. 17, 1918, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of John B. and Katherine (Minister) Fischer. On Feb. 20, 1965, she married Charles W. Mann in Shelby County. He survives in Whiteland.
    A 1936 graduate of Waldron High School, Mrs. Mann was a supply accountant to the Indiana National Guard for 28 years and retired from Stout Field in 1981. She received the Meritorious Service medal for Outstanding Civil Service to the state of Indiana.
    She was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Franklin, the altar society of the church and the New Whiteland Chapter of Kappa Kappa Sigma.
    Other survivors are a son, John N. Merrick, Las Vegas; a stepson, James Mann, Avon; stepdaughters Sue Carol Walker, Anderson, Janet Marie Gray, Boggstown, Ruth Ann Henderson and Shirley Jean Hash, both of Franklin; a sister, Mary Braunagel, Shelbyville; five grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and several great-step-grandchildren.
    Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Dan Mahan officiating. Burial will be Nineveh Cemetery.     Services Friday for Automobile Dealer

    Franklin businessman James W. Woods apparently died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to Johnson County Deputy Coroner John Price.
    Mr. Woods, 47, 1101 E. Adams Drive, was found dead in his bedroom by his oldest son and an employee of Woods Buick-Pontiac, Inc., Price said. Woods was president of the car dealship.
    Price said the shooting took place about 10:30 a. m. Tuesday.
    A funeral mass will be said for Woods Friday at 10:30 a. m. in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p. m. Thursday at Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home in Franklin.
    A scripture is scheduled for 7:30 p. m. Thursday at the funeral home.
    Mr. Woods was born April 28, 1934 in Franklin and was a lifelong area resident. His parents were William C. and Frieda Ann (Fischer) Woods.
    He was married Nov. 24, 1962 in Indianapolis to Mary Ellen (Cain) Woods. She survives.
    Mr. Woods waas a graduate of Franklin High School and Franklin College and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He was a director for the Franklin Boys Club and served as a past councilman for St. Rose of Lima Church.
    He also was amember of the Franklin Elks Club and Hillview County Club.

    Infant Son Succumbs Shortly After Birth

    The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Woods died at 2 o'clock this morning at the family home, 300 North Johnson avenue, twelve hours after birth.
