Obituary for Nancy M. Fischer
Nancy M. Fischer, 51, passed away Monday, April 13, 2015, at her home in Ottawa, Kansas.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Sacred Heart Church.

A rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, followed by a family and friends visitation at 6:30 p.m.

Interment St. John’s Cemetery, Homewood, Kansas.

Nancy was born Friday, February 28, 1964, in Ottawa, the daughter of Bernard and Rita (Dalsing) Fischer.

She was a lifelong Ottawa resident graduating from Ottawa High School with the class of 1983 and continued her education at Emporia State University, graduating in 1988, with a bachelor’s of science and a master’s of science in special education. She returned to Emporia State, graduating in 2000, with a master’s in library science.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and Altar Society, Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority (Sigma Chapter), Kansas Association of School Librarians, and National Education Association.

Nancy worked twenty-seven years for USD 290 as a teacher in Special Education and as a Librarian.

Survivors include her mother, Rita Fischer; siblings, David Fischer and wife, Karla Sister Elaine Fischer, O.S.B. , and John Fischer and Jeannette Lopez nieces and nephews, Jacob, Megan, Brock, Anthony “A.J.”, and Zachary Fischer.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Nancy was deeply devoted to her family. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and growing flowers. She touched the lives of family, friends, and students with her kind and compassionate heart. Nancy will be deeply missed and remain in the hearts and thoughts of her family and friends forever.

Carol Ann Robbins, 63, Waverly, died on March 21, 2016, at the Kansas City Hospice House.

Carol was born on August 21, 1952, in Ottawa, Kansas, to Leonard W. and Freida A. Fischer Hermreck.

Carol graduated from Garnett High School in 1970, and went to the Gene Blake School of Hair Styling, in Topeka. She did hair in Ottawa, before buying the hair salon in Waverly in 1972. It was named Carol’s Beauty Shop.

On September 4, 1971, she married Dennis M. Robbins, at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, at Emerald.

Carol was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Altar Society, in Waverly. She had served to terms on the Waverly City Council. She was instrumental in getting the Waverly Community Building constructed. She was very active in her church and community.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Sean M. Robbins, on August 4, 2013.

Carol is survived by her husband, Dennis, her daughter-in-law, Lisa Robbins, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, three grandchildren, Chloe and Cooper Robbins, and Channing Ketchum, her brothers, Dale (Linda) Hermreck, Ottawa, and Glenn (Rebecca) Hermreck, Overland Park, her four sisters, Linda (Larry) Zwiener, Garnett, Wanda (Steve) Wilkinson, Overland Park, Lois (Hal) Newman, Manhattan, and Colleen (Rob) Snell, Burwell, NE, other relatives and friends. Carol’s first love was her church, her grandchildren, Immediate family and friends, and Lisa the daughter she never had.

Services will be Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at the Waverly Gymnasium, Waverly, KS. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., at the gym. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Kansas City Hospice House, St. Joseph Catholic Church, or the Coffey County Cancer Support Group, and may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, P.O. Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839.

Sean Michael Robbins, the son of Dennis and Carol Hermreck Robbins was born on December 30, 1971, in Emporia, Kansas.Sean grew up in Waverly, Kansas. He graduated from Waverly High School in 1990. He was only the second person to be First Team in Basketball and Football in All Classes for the State of Kansas. He was a McDonald's All American. He played for the North Squad Basketball Team at the Olympic Festival in Los Angeles, in 1992, where his team took gold. He went to Emporia State University on a basketball scholarship. Sean was 2nd team All-MIAA his senior season in 1995. He graduated from Ottawa University. He also loved to play golf. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Waverly.Sean married Lisa Walker, on August 25, 2001, at the Most Pure Heart Catholic Church in Topeka. They were later divorced.Sean died on Sunday, August 4, 2013, in Chicago, Illinois. Sean is survived by his children, Chloe and Cooper Robbins, of Owasso, Oklahoma, his parents, Dennis and Carol Robbins, of Waverly, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 9, 2013, at the Waverly Gymnasium in Waverly, Kansas, with burial following at St. Joseph Cemetery, Waverly.Rosary service will be at 6:30 PM on Thursday, August 8, at the Waverly Gym, with visitation following from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. Emporia, Kan (WIBW) --- Former Emporia State University basketball star Sean Robbins has been found dead in a Chicago hotel room. Robbins was traveling on business according to an ESU official. At the time of his death, Robbins was employed by WSI Kimberly-Clark near Tulsa and he resided in Owasso, OK. He was 41. Robbins played at Emporia State as a freshman in 1990-91 and again from 1992-95, after a year at Kansas State. Robbins averaged 18.4 points per game in his career and his 1,396 points ranks him 7th in the all-time Hornet record book. Robbins' 45 points against Lincoln in 1995 is still the 10th highest single-game total in ESU history. His 216 made 3-point FGs is still a school record. Robbins was 2nd team All-MIAA his senior season in 1995. Prior to his career at E-State, Robbins was a star at Waverly High School. Robbins' funeral is set for Friday morning at 10am in the Waverly High School gymnasium.
