Mrs. Lorena Marie Thoman, wife of Henry Thoman, and son of the county's most widely known young women, died at four o'clock this morning at her home, one mile east of the St. Vincent church, in Liberty township, following a short illness from a complication of diseases. The announcement of her death this morning was the cause of deep and sincere mourning throughout the community.

Funeral services are to be conducted at nine o'clock Thursday morning from the St. Vincent church with the Rev. Pieree Dixon, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph cemetery here with Charles M. Ewing, funeral director, in charge.

Mrs. Thoman was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Fischer, of Sugar Creek township and was born in Shelby county, Dec. 7, 1902, being at the time of death, twenty-eight years, one month and twenty-six days old. On June 20, 1928, she was united in marriage to Henry Thoman and they were the parents of one son, Norbert Stephen, who, with the husband survives.

She also leaves her parents, three sisters, Freda, Mary and Eileen, and a brothers, Earl Fischer, all of Sugar Creek township.

Mrs. Thoman was a devoted member of the St. Vincent Catholic Church and had also been active in subordinate organizations of the congregation.

629 Patricia Marie (Brandes) Barnett, age 51, Crawfordsville, Indiana formerly of Indianapolis and Fortville passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born January 21, 1958 at Fort Benjamin Harrison to Harry and Cleopha Brandes who preceded her in death.

Patty was a kind and compassionate person who was an inspiration to her family and friends. She was married to her devoted husband Paul on August 16, 1997. She was a loving mother and will be deeply missed by her two (2) daughters, Theresia, born in 1998 and Mary, born in 2000.

Patty is survived by five (5) siblings; a sister, Connie Brandes (Brownsburg) and brothers; Bill (Joan) of New Palestine, Ron (Linda) of McCordsville, Mike (Diana) of Jasper, and Bob (Louise) of Central Point, Oregon. Patty is also survived by 9 nieces and nephews, and seven (7) great nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Patty was an active member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Crawfordsville. She was very active in all of her children’s activities, including Girl Scouts and 4 H.

Patty was a 1976 graduate of Scecina Memorial High School and later earned her Bachelors degree in Psychology from IUPUI. She was recently employed by Family Interventions Inc. in Crawfordsville.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 14, 2009 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Crawfordsville, IN. Calling will be at 9:00 AM to 12 Noon with the funeral to immediately follow. Hunt and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Bernard Scholarship fund.

Fischer, the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fischer, passed away at their home one and one-half miles south of Prescott at 12:30 o'clock this morning after having been a sufferer from bowel trouble for only a few days. Deceased was one year, ten months and seven days of age. The funeral obsequies will be conducted at the St. Vincent Catholic church at three o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Rev. Fr. Ketter officiating. 632 Peter R. Kramer passed away August 16, 2016 in Scarborough, Maine after a short battle with lung cancer.

Peter was the son of Harold P. Kramer and Patricia M. Kramer. He grew up in Vallejo and attended St. Vincent’s Catholic Elementary school and graduated from St. Vincent’s High School in 1965. After a four-year stint in the U.S. Navy, he was hired as a police office with the City of Napa.

He married Theresa H. Wright on July 10, 1971, whom he met at the police department. Peter served as the department’s range master, firearms instructor, and armory officer in addition to working on patrol, in investigations, and the DWI program. In 1981 he was medically retired after sustaining a back injury on duty, but continued teaching at the Napa College Police Academy for several years. In 1989 he began working for AAA as an emergency road service dispatcher until his retirement in 2003.

Peter and Theresa moved to Maine in July 2007 to be closer to their son and daughter.

Peter had a love of trains and was fortunate to travel on many scenic railroads across America. In 2009, Peter and Theresa completed their goal of visiting all fifty states when they toured Alaska.

Peter is survived by his wife of 45 years, Theresa of Scarborough, ME; son Michael (Kristina) Kramer of Scarborough, ME; daughter Katie of Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren Madeline and Collin Kramer of Scarborough, ME, and half-brother, Craig Kramer of Sacramento, CA. He was pre-deceased by his father, his mother, brother Raymond H. Kramer and half-sister Gayle Hixon.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church in Vallejo at noon on Saturday, June 24th followed by a reception to celebrate his colorful life at the Vallejo Veteran’s Memorial Building from 1:30-5:30pm. Donations can be made to St. Vincent’s, Justin-Siena Athletic Program, the Napa Police Historical Society or the donor’s choice.

Born in Liberty Township in Shelby County on Aug. 15, 1938, he was the son of John and Pearl (Braunagel) Fischer.
A farmer all of his life, Mr. Fischer and Jo Ann (Kramer) Fischer were married on Nov. 20, 1971.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Waldron High School Athletic Booster Club and the Greensburg Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his wife; three children, all at home, Amy Fischer, Rebecca Fischer and Jonathan Fischer; a brother, John Fischer, Shelbyville; sisters, Mrs. Donald (Lois) Durbin, Indianapolis, Mrs. Mary Mammoser, Indianapolis, and Mrs. William (Berneice) McClintock, Anderson.
A sister preceded Mr. Fischer in death.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. John Maung officiating. Burial will be in St. Vincent Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Glenn E. George Funeral Home in St. Paul. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. (Obit: The Shelbyville News, May 22, 1991)

650 Raymond F. “Ray” Wisker, 82, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016.

He was born July 2, 1934, in Shelby County, the son of Arthur and Alma (Weintraut) Wisker. On August 21, 1954 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, he married his loving wife of 61 years, Marilyn (Arbuckle) Wisker, and she preceded in death on February 10, 2016.

Ray is survived by his daughters, Sharon Fennell of Lebanon, Tennessee, Alma Kissel and husband, John, of Eustis, Florida, Nancy Stephenson and husband, Steve, of Shelbyville, and Susan Pence and husband, Tim, of Edinburgh; a sister, Barbara Patterson of Greenwood; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenneth Wisker; and sister, Charlene Routier.

Ray graduated from Waldron High School in 1952.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Ray was the owner and operator of Wisker’s Painting and Wallpapering, Inc. from 1969 to 1996.

He was a tour director of Indiana Good Sam Camping club.
