The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Woods died at 2 o'clock this morning at the family home, 300 North Johnson avenue, twelve hours after birth.

363 James R. Koors, age 78 of Batesville, died Monday, February 26, 2013 at his residence. Born January 19, 1935 in Decatur County Indiana, he is the son of Marguerite (Nee: Thrine) and Herman Koors. He married Glorian Firsich December 29, 1954 at St. Louis Church in Batesville and she preceded him in death July 30, 2012. Jim served in the Army during World War II and after the service started his own painting company. He was a member of St. Louis Church, the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271, the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and the Knights of Columbus Council #1461 where he was a fourth degree knight.

Anyone who knew Jim knew what a prankster he was. He took great delight at teasing, picking on and pranking people and no one was above being one of his victims. Many will also remember him as a long time league bowler for the "Binders." Jim liked to golf but according to his family, "he was a better soldier than golfer." Other activities he enjoyed were going to the boat to try his luck at the casino, listening to the Reds on the radio Sunday's when he was grilling and apparently he was a bit of a card shark. Among his favorites were 7up, Solo, Pinochle and Euchre. His family also indicated dad had a bit of sweet tooth with an absolute passion for ice cream and pies. Jokester that he was, he was equally proud of his of his service to his country. During his life, Jim devoted many hours to both the VFW and the Legion volunteering to march during holidays and parades in addition to serving several decades as a member of the firing squad for the Legion honor guard.

He is survived by his daughter Tress Zielinski of Batesville; sons Andy Koors of Batesville, Tony Koors of Indianapolis; sister Rite Fields of Oldenburg; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. In addition to his wife and parents, he is also preceded in death by daughter Tammy Koors; sisters Mary Ann Schroeder, Liz John and brothers George and Bill Koors. Visitation is Thursday, February 28th, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday, March 1st, at St. Louis Church with Rev. Randy Summers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Prell-Bland American Legion and the Batesville V.F.W. The family requests memorials to the Prell-Bland American Legion or Hospice of Margaret Mary Hospital.

She was born August 16, 1937, in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the daughter of Charles William and Mildred Marie (Perkins) Mann. On October 6, 1956, she married her husband of 59 ½ years, William Duane Gray, and he survives.

Janet is also survived by her daughters, Debra Davidson and husband, John, of South Haven, Michigan, Rhonda Parsons and husband, Jeff, of Gun Lake, Michigan, and Susan Borkes and husband, Randall, of Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania; son, Michael Gray of Boggstown; brother, James Mann and wife, Joanne, of Taylorsville; sisters, Ruth Ann Henderson of Edinburgh, and Shirley Hash and husband, Gerald, of Greenwood; grandchildren, Kyle Patterson and wife, Loren, Kara Torres and husband, Elias, Natalie Jones and husband, Terry, Bryan Parsons, Ross Parsons, Jason Borkes and Adam Borkes; great-grandchildren, Shawn Sanders, Marcus Torres, Sophia Torres and Will Patterson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was an avid quilter, making over 100 quilts. Janet also enjoyed gardening and canning her produce. She was an awesome cook and enjoyed baking.

Janet was formerly a 4-H leader.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and devoted her life to her family.

369 JoAnn Fischer, 75, of Waldron, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.

She was born Jan. 20, 1941, in Rush County, the daughter of Joseph and Christine (Mauer) Kramer. On Nov. 20, 1971, she married Ray Fischer, and he preceded her in death on May 21, 1991.

JoAnn graduated from Arlington High School in 1959, and attended Indiana University for two years.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, where she helped by cooking for funeral dinners, and was known for her amazing homemade pies.

JoAnn was a homemaker. She formerly worked as an executive assistant at General Motors until her children were born. When her children were in school, she worked in the evenings at Medcheck, as a registrar and in the cafeteria at Waldron Elementary, so she could see them during the day. Later, she worked at Community Hospital East in the billing department, retiring in 2002.

She was also a member of st. Ann's Altar Society.

JoAnn enjoyed gardening, writing notes and cards, reading and mowing grass.

She loved her grandchildren and treasured the time she spent with them.

JoAnn is survived by her daughters, Amy (Wade) Dingman, of Greenfield and Rebecca "Becky" (Dan) Wagner, of Lebanon; son, Jonathan "Jon" (Alison) Fischer, of Waldron; sister, Marilyn (Stan) Huseland, of Carmel; brothers, Ralph (Carol) Kramer, of Shelbyville, Bob Kramer of Rushville, and Bill Kramer of Greensburg; grandchildren, Cole Dingman, Mackenzie Polster, Tyler Dingman, Ben Polster, James Wagner and wife, Kate, Ray Wagner, Lorelei Wagner, Alivia Fischer and Grace Fischer; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. The rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial begins at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 4218 E. Michigan Road in Shelbyville, with Father Paul Landwerlen officiating. Interment will be at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery.

371 John F. Zinser, 84, St. Paul, died Monday at Major Hospital.

Born Dec. 30, 1913, in Shelby County, he was the son of John and Josephene (Fischer) Zinser.

He married Alice (Worland) Zinser on May 1, 1948. She died July 14, 1964.

Mr. Zinser was a farmer until retiring in 1979. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, all of Shelbyville; and the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by a son, Paul Zinser, St. Paul.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Glenn E. George Funeral Home, St. Paul. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Vincent Catholic Church, with the Rev. Paul Landwerlen officiating. Burial will be in St. Vincent Cemetery, and Shelbyville veterans' groups will honor him with services at the cemetery.

372 John H. "Junior" Fischer Jr., 83, of Shelbyville died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, at his home.
Born May 14, 1923, in Waldron, he was the son of John H. and Pearl (Braunagel) Fischer Sr. He married Virginia L. Fogarty on May 15, 1949, and she survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Madelyn K. (husband, Samuel) Kehrer of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Charlotte Sue Allen of Indianapolis; one sister, Lois Durbin of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, John "Gabe" Allen, Lauren Manning, Christa Allen and Ryan Allen Off; and two great-grandchildren, Morgan Manning and Rachel Manning.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Raymond Fischer; and two sisters, Mary Catherine Mammoser and Berneice McClintock.
Mr. Fischer was a lifelong Shelby County resident.
He had been a self-employed farmer and an electrician for the state of Indiana in the traffic division for 15 years, retiring in 1974.
Mr. Fischer graduated in 1942 from Waldron High School.
He was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Mr. Fischer was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with the rosary recited at 4 p.m., on Friday at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Landwerlen officiating.

373 John Henry Fischer, one of the best known men in Liberty township, passed away this afternoon at 12:30 o'clock, of heart trouble, after an illness of several months. Mr. Fischer was well known as a experienced auctioneer in addition to his farming duties.
He was born in Oldenburg, Franklin county, September 22, 1846, making him at the time of death sixty-three years and two days of age. He married Miss Mary Tappe also of Oldenburg, who survives his sad demise. He removed to Shelby county in 1871, and has since resided in Liberty township.
In addition to the widow, he is survived by five children; Mrs. Mary Krug, of Chattanooga, Ten,; Mrs. Josephine Zinser, of Liberty township; Miss Agness, and Frederick and John Fischer, who live at home.
Funeral services will be held at St. Vincent's church, Monday morning at nine o'clock, at which time Father Ketter will say solemn high mass. The interment will be in the St. Vincent cemetery, M. G. Tindall in charge. (Obit: The Shelbyville Democrat, Sep. 24, 1909)

374 John Herman Fischer, 81, farmer of five miles west of Ottawa, died at 6 a.m. today at home. He had been in failing health the past year, and suddenly became worse last night.
He was born December 13, 1861 at Oldenburg, Indiana. He was married to Anna Runnebohm October 8, 1889 at Shelbyville, Indiana. The family moved here from Haskell, Oklahoma in 1919.
Surviving relatives are the widow and seven children: Anthony Fischer, Spivey; Mrs. Joseph Lauer, Louis Fischer and Mrs. Deb Strafuss, Princeton; Bernard Fischer, Homewood; Mrs. Joseph Renyer, Berrytown; and Stephen Fischer, Pomona; 27 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and five brothers and sisters; John and Frank Fischer, Mrs. Anna Neese, Mrs. Frank Weintraut and Mrs. Joseph Weintraut all Shelbyville, Indiana.
The funeral is to be Friday at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, of which Mr. Fischer was a member. Father A. B. Portelance is to officiate and interment will be at St. John's cemetery, Homewood. The rosary will be recited at the Fischer home Thursday at 8 p.m. (Obit: The Ottawa Herald, Jan. 5, 1943)

375 John Larkins, 81, of Galesburg, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, at home.
He was born Friday, April 20, 1934, in Oquawka, the son of William G. and Pearl L. (Easton) Larkins. He married Colleen J. Sage on June 11, 1954, in Monmouth.
He is survived by two sons, Dale (Pam) Larkins and Tim (Becky) Larkins, both of Galesburg; four daughters, Joyce (Tom) Helms and Janet Pierce, both of Galesburg, Judi (Don) Jarvis of Rock Island, and Julie Baldwin of Athens, Ohio. He had 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. He also had one brother-in-law, Forrest Crist of Oregon; one sister-in-law, Betty Larkins; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, and five sisters.
John attended schools in Rosetta, Monmouth, East Galesburg, and Galesburg and graduated from Auctioneering School in Mason City. He worked at Union Carbide and McKeesport Hospital, Pennsylvania, and retired from Admiral-Maytag in 1996 after over 40 years of work. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His family always came first.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, at Wise Family - Hoover Hall Funeral Home in Monmouth. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. 376 John Ralph, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Fischer, died at 8:55 o'clock Monday night at their home in Shelby township. The child was eleven months and twenty-seven days old, having been born August 11, 1915. He was always frail, but the fatal illness was of only ten days duration. Death was caused by stomach and bowel trouble. Surviving beside the parents are a brother and three sisters, Earl, Lorrena, Freda and Mary. The babe leaves, also, its grandmothers, Mrs. Mary Minster, of this city, and Mrs. Elizabeth Fischer, of Prescott. This is the third time that Mr. and Mrs. Fischer have been called upon to give up a little one, and in their hour of sorrow they will have the sincere sympathy of the entire community. The funeral will take place at the St. Joseph Catholic church tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock, Rev. Fr. Kanlin officiating, and the interment will be made in the St. Joseph cemetery, Marshall G. 377 John William Pollman, 78, 3497 E. Michigan Rd., died Saturday at his home.Mr. Pollman was born June 6, 1915, in Shelby County, to John H. and Catherine (Ruhlman) Pollman. He married Lillian Fischer on Oct. 24, 1945, at St. Vincent's Catholic Church. His wife survives.Mr. Pollman was a lathe operator for 23 years at the P.R. Mallory firm in Indianapolis. He also farmed in Shelby County for 18 years. He was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Sacred Heart Council 822 in Shelbyville, and a fourth-degree member of teh St. Louis and Mary Assembly of the Knights of Columbus.Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent's Catholic Church with Father James Dede officiating. Burial will be in the St. Vincent's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday.Surviving in addition to his wife are five sons, John F. Pollman, Paul V. Joyce Petter, 82 of Ellsworth died Saturday, March 17, 2018 at her home in the loving care of her family.

She was born October 15, 1935 at Charlevoix Hospital in Charlevoix the daughter of Henry and Josie (DeYoung) Wassenaar. She was welcomed by her older brothers Ronald and Marvin.

She graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1954 and attended Muskegon School of Business.

On March 26, 1955 she married Edwin Petter at Belltower Reformed Church and they made their home in Ellsworth.

She was employed by the Ellsworth Canning Factory, East Jordan Public Schools, and Drenth Brothers. After retiring from Drenth Brothers she attained CNA certification and spent several years providing home health care services.

Joyce and Ed devoted many hours to Good Samaritan Family Services in Ellsworth. She spent so much time there her grandchildren still refer to it as "Grandma's store".

Joyce and Ed have been a wonderful inspiration to their family. Their lifelong love of each other extended to their community and beyond. Joyce played piano and organ for the Pilgrim Holiness / Wesleyan church for decades. She loved to sing and hymns remained a source of enjoyment in her later years.

She is survived and missed dearly by her husband Edwin; children Phyllis (David) Priest of East Jordan, Carla Kammerer of Ellsworth and Derek Petter of Gaylord. Grandchildren Donald, Eleanor (Anthony), Aaron (Kristi) Caleb (Ashley) Jesse (Brittany), Joseph, Haley, Hannah, Samuel, Madison, Steven, Maggie, Eli, Tori, Tyler, Betrys, Kacey, Kaden, and Lillian. Great Grandchildren Lucy, Oliver and Luca.

She was preceded by her parents, brothers Ronald and Marvin, and grandchildren William, Andrew and Jasmine.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Hastings Funeral Home with Pastor David Willett officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday , March 21, 2018 from 4 to 7. Burial will be in Atwood Cemetery.

Ferkinhoff, age 84, who passed away Monday at Quiet Oaks Hospice House. Rev. Steve Binsfeld will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids and one hour prior to the services Friday at the church. Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Kathleen was born Oct. 29, 1932 to Leo & Anna (Schreder) Guck and grew up in Sauk Rapids graduating from Cathedral High School. She was united in marriage to Ted Ferkinhoff in 1953 and together they raised six children living in Sauk Rapids throughout their lives together. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was a member of the Christian Mothers and Catholic Aid. Ted and Kathy became hobby farmers in 1968, raising crops, chickens and beef cattle. Kathy was very involved in running the farm, managing the household, and tending to her huge garden. Many Saturday nights were spent socializing and dancing with friends. As the kids got older, Kathy developed a self-taught business recovering furniture and due to her business, she seemed to know most everyone in Sauk Rapids and St. Cloud. In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, a little time at the casino, daily mass at the Poor Clares and an occasional cup of coffee at Coborn’s of course! Kathy will be remembered as a passionate person who loved her family and was so proud of all they’ve become and how they love one another.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years Ted; son-in-law, Jeff Rudy; brothers, Jerome, Eugene, Ervin and Dennis; and sisters, Arlene Ethan and Leone Jean Guck. She is survived by her children, Jeff (Theresa), Dean (Delaine), Matt (Lynne), Jane Rudy, Lynn (Craig) Sauer, and Ruth (Chris) Dorival; 10 grandchildren and 3+ great grandchildren. Other surviving family include her sisters, Jeanette Binsfeld, Mary Ann Esselman (Chuck Hanson) and Betty (Ron) Erickson; brother-in-law, Paul Ferkinhoff; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Munchel-Fischer
Kathryn E. Munchel-Fischer, 87, of Indianapolis, formerly of Oldenburg, died Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at St. Vincent's Hospice in Indianapolis. She was born December 10, 1916 in Oldenburg the daughter of Theodor Heidlage and Olivia Scheidler Heidlage, both deceased. She married Alvin Munchel and he preceded her in death in 1961. She then married Frank Fischer and he also preceded her in death in 1976.
Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Rudberg of Ann Arbor, MI, Ellen (Rex) Camp of Indianapolis, Jane (Michael) Connor of Hailey, ID, one son, Gerry (Holly) Munchel of Ithaca, NY, three step-daughters, Carol Tetrick of Indianapolis, Joyce Pope of Greenfield, Joan Morgan of St. Paul, two brothers, Robert Heidlage of Connersville, Rev. Benno Heidlage O.F.M. of Oldenburg, seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and ten step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Munchel, one son, James Munchel and two brothers, Rev. Aldric Heidlage O.F.M. and Carl Heidlage.
Mrs. Fischer was a teacher first teaching kindergarten at Holy Family Church when it opened. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Indianapolis, founder of the Girl Scouts in Oldenburg and was also a former member of the Holy Family Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 21, 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg with Rev. Benno Heidlage O.F.M. and Rev. John Turnbull O.F.M. officiating.
Burial was in the Holy Family Cemetery. Memorials may go to the St. Joseph Indian Mission. Weigel Funeral Home, Batesville, was in charge of the arrangements.
